Johnny Trujillo Montoya

Johnny “John” T. Montoya, age 78, went home to be with the Lord on January 15, 2021 in Indianapolis, Indiana. John was born March 1, 1942 in Bernalillo, NM to the late Dora Montoya and Roger Trujillo, and raised by his late grandparents Juan and Albina Montoya of Greeley, CO. He graduated from Greeley High School and received his Associates Degree from University of Northern Colorado. He married and had two children, Burke and Monae. Later in life, John married Virginia Strom (Miller) on July 1, 1979. John started with Benson Optical after college and became an Optician and sales rep for Bausch & Lomb ophthalmic division receiving his Optician Certification in Chicago. He spent many years as an Optician in the Greeley/Ft. Collins area and owning Eyewear Boutique and served as President of the Midtown Merchants Association. John and his wife, Virginia, achieved Emerald level with Amway. He loved vintage cars, traveling, and was a member of VMCCA. He volunteered with Prime Timers at Timberline Church, the Loveland Rialto Theater, and McKee Hospital. He loved building, remodeling, and specialty tile work. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Montoya; son Burke Montoya (Caroline) with grandchildren, Kassi, Janae, and Lucas Montoya; daughter, Monae Watkins (David) with grandchildren, Laurin, Aspen, and Benjamin Watkins; step-son, Terry Miller (Nicki) with grandchildren Karsynn Nielsen (Jordan) and Devynn Miller; step-daughter, Cindy Stewart (Allen) with grandchildren Zachary McNair (Rebecca), Emberli Stewart, Ashli Young (Calvin), Alex Stewart (Rhe’anna), Iven Stewart, and Dillon Merle; and John’s close family, Frances Escarcida and Marty Montoya. A private living memorial was held at bedside by Pastor John Newland of Fall Creek Church. Johnny is laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Gardens near the Good Shepherd Monument in Fort Collins, CO.

From the Time of the Emmaus Walk, in which we first met. It has been a Pleasure knowing you, from this point forward. Your Smile was such an expression of your Inner Self. Your Sharing, Your Caring & your Willingness to be there for others, is so Very Special. You have imprinted some fine memories and instilled some pathways for me to follow, by the Character in which you displayed. Your Memories lives on in the people who you have impacted in a positive manner.
