Juanita J. Rush

Juanita Jean Oliver Rush was born on December 20, 1935. Juanita attended Indianapolis Public School where she enjoyed playing the violin and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School at the age of 16. Juanita studied education at Butler University and Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis. Juanita worked at the Finance Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison, the Purdue Extension Program and the Marion County Public Library. Juanita was an avid reader and collected many books of children literature, including all the Newberry Medal winning books. She enjoyed baking, canning and freezing and loved going to farms to source her food. Juanita attended the Church of God In Christ churches where she participated in the ministries of missions, teaching, children programs and hospitality. Juanita is already being missed by her family. She passed from this life on August 22, 2018. RIP, we loved our Mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Titus T. Rush, Sr.; parents, Cecelia Marcella Thornton Johnson and Cleveland Oliver; son, Richard L. Rush; sister, Jacqueline T. Moore; grandson, Jerry T. Vaughn, Jr.; and great-grandson, Julian R. Vaughn.Left to cherish her precious memory are her children, Pastor Titus T. Rush, Jr. (Alice), Glen A. Rush, Pastor Timothy E. Rush, Sr. (Beverly), Cynthia M. Vaughn (Pastor Jerry), Gerald M. Rush, Patricia A. Robinson, Pastor Kenneth J. Rush, Sr. (Laurie), Executive Pastor William E. Rush I (Sonya); Deborah J. Rush, Esq., Robert J. Rush, and Mary Elizabeth Rush-Wilburn; as well as a host of other extended relatives and friends.Celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at the 28th Street Church of God in Christ, 630 W. 28th St., with visitation there from 9 a.m. until service time. Interment: New Crown Cemetery.
