Obituary of Kenneth Oscar Hutchinson
Kenneth O. Hutchinson, 92, passed away quietly August 6, 2020 at his residence. He was born July 5, 1928 in Walworth, WI to the late Ralph and Bertha Lindroth Hutchinson. He grew up in the heart of the depression and served in the US Army during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge, he received an Associates Degree in electrical engineering from DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago. He retired after a lengthy and successful career with Bell Telephone Laboratories/Lucent Technologies. He was married to his lifelong partner Maureen (Murphy) Hutchinson on May 18, 1957 in Orange, New Jersey, and they established their home in Indianapolis, IN for the next 63 years. Ken is survived by his wife, Maureen and their 5 children, Gail Hutchinson, James Hutchinson, Ellen (Stephen) Gwinn, Kevin Hutchinson, and Robert (Yessenia) Hutchinson. Grandchildren are Aaron, Samuel, Jissel, Nayelli, and Ashley and one great grandchild, Leah. Also surviving are his sister, Alma Rhinerson of Menasha, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Francis Murphy of Livingston, New Jersey; and many extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Odell and David Hutchinson and his sister, Lucy Koerner. Ken was a loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts, and the Indiana Pacers. He was an avid collector of Andy Gump cartoon memorabilia, turtles, gems, minerals, and fossils. He was an expert on all things related to the author Jean Shepherd, famous for "A Christmas Story". His peaceful nature and ever-enduring sense of humor will be greatly missed. Ken was an active member of the original St. Simon the Apostle parish and later Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 10th St. Indianapolis. There, arrangements have been made for a private Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.
