Kent L. Smith

Kent L. Smith passed away at his residence in Greenwood on January 27, 2012. He was born in Indianapolis to the late Raymond and Esther Smith. He was 71. Kent was an avid volunteer for many organizations throughout the greater Indianapolis area. He was an IHSAA Basketball official for over 40 years, a member of the Arsenal Tech Alumni Association, American Legion Post 64 for 38 yrs., Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4167 for 13 yrs., Masonic Lodge , Indiana Officials Association, Murat Shriners, President of Fall Creek Officials Association, volunteer for Indiana Sports Corporation, led his team to two Senior World Series Softball Championships, Alumni of the Year at Arsenal Tech in 2009 and he was inducted into the Indiana Senior Softball Hall of Fame.Kent is survived by his loving companion of 28 years, Coletta Truran, 4 step-sons; Christopher(Debbie)Truran, Gregory Truran and Brian(Julie) Truran and Bill Hunter, eight grandchildren; Ben Hunter, Amber Singleton, Brittany Truran, Allyson Truran, Chelsea Truran, Tyler Truran, Jarrett Truran, and Esabella Truran, one great grandchild; Madelynn Singleton, niece; Stephanie Hagerman, and nephews; Kent Smith and Eric Smith.He was preceded in death by two brothers; Warren and Jerry Smith.Visitation will be held on January 31, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. in Little and Sons Funeral Home Stop 11 Chapel. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 12 noon with visitation from 10 until time of service. Burial in Crown Hill Cemetery.
