aka "Queenie"
Lana passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 68 years young, after battling multiple illnesses. No doubt she was a fighter though. She was already fighting the lifelong diseases of Multiple Sclerosis and diabetes.
A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, nana, sister, aunt, friend and the true definition of a social butterfly. She was a wise soul that could give you some of the best advice (which made her a priceless friend). It's obvious why she had so many. You truly couldn't have someone better standing in your corner. Her generosity knew no boundaries; and, her love for all beings was without a doubt, unconditional. Let's face it, you certainly have not met a dog lover until you met her (she's taken in many). She was also the master of etiquette; and, a lady with killer fashion sense who knew how to throw a proper celebration.
Gone too soon but no longer in pain, a woman loved by many, she will never be forgotten. She will greet us all again one day but this time singing and dancing; and, most likely with a dessert in hand.
She was born March 2, 1949 to the late Harold A. Shaffer and Elizabeth Shaffer. She was a founding member of the RBEC and was also a member of Beta Sigma Pi. After being a stay at home mother, she worked in property management for 20+ years. She is survived by her husband, David, of 48 years; daughter, Katie Overton (Ken); grandchildren, Haley, Brooke and Nicholas; great-granddaughter, Sawyer; sister, Ann Hackbirth; brother, Harold A. Shaffer II nka Enrico Toney; and 9 nieces and nephews.
A reception of family and friends will be held 2pm-4pm Saturday, April 15th at Family Funeral Care, 5791 Rockville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46224. A time of sharing memories and stories will begin at 3:30. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Lana's name to the MS Society.
