Obituary of Lawrence Gregg "Jack" Vannice III
Lawrence Gregg “Jack” Vannice III, 73, of Indianapolis, departed this life January 13, 2018. Jack was born March 11, 1944 in Indianapolis to the late Lawrence Gregg and Mary Louise (King) Vannice. He was a graduate of Danville High School and attended Butler University before enlisting in the United States Navy where he was awarded 3 Bronze Stars as a Navy SeaBee for his service to our country. At the completion of his tours of duty, Jack enrolled at Indiana University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. Jack was a trusted and respected Senior Superintendent for FA Wilhelm Construction and Shiel Sexton Co. overseeing many local and tri-state projects. He was a CYO football coach at Immaculate Heart of Mary and with the Bishop Chatard High School football program. As an active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Jack was named one of fifteen most influential parishioners, served on numerous committees, and was an initial recipient of The Spirit of IHM award for his years of dedication to the athletic program. Jack was also a member of the American Legion, American Concrete Institute, Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, the Carvel Club, and other professional organizations. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-three years, Nicki, and siblings, Martha, Robert, and James. Jack is survived by his wife, Ann; sons, Andrew (wife, Mary), Nathan, Charles (wife, Susie), Jack, and Quentin (wife, Megan); sister, Katherine; brothers, Thaddeus and William; and beloved grandchildren, Noel and Neve. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, January 18, at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary, 2126 E. 71st St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46220. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Friday, January 19, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 5692 Central Ave., Indianapolis, with interment to follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in accordance with Jack’s wishes to: Wounded Warrior Project (230 W.
