Lucy Begley, 91, passed away on November 2, 2022, in Martinsville, Indiana. Lucy was born in Hazard, Kentucky to Brack and Roma Neace
on May 6, 1931. She went to school in Hazard, on Ten Mile, a one room schoolhouse. She married Christopher Begley in 1950, and Lucy is survived
by her children: Kenneth Ray & Sandra Kay. Her brothers Green (Teresa) Fred, Wayne. Her sisters Oredus Everhart and Betty Draper. She left this world
having 8 grandchildren: Kenneth Lee (Teresa), Joseph Ray (Michelle) Shawn Dale and Elvis Presley. Michelle Kay, Christina Ann, Ricky Dale and Matthew Allan.
21 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death are her parents Brack and Roma Neace, three brothers- Asbury Neace, Brack Jr. and Asdrouble Neace. 4 sisters-Mary Angel,
Rosa Helton, Myrtle Riley and Lola Bush. Her son Timothy Jay Begley and daughter-in-law Linda Begley. Mom started working for PR Mallory in 1951, Standard Grocery Store
when she first came to Indianapolis after marrying our father, Christopher Begley, July 22, 1950. Mom and our father started going to church in 1950 at what
was then The Upper Room. Both were baptized in the Ohio river back then and she kept her faith in her heart all through the years. When the church divided our
parents, then followed Brother Louis Gibson and his church-Charity Tabernacle on Tibbs Avenue. Mom worked for Pepsi Cola and then retired after 37 years.
She then worked at Kroger in the bakery department for a short time, as well as working for Conkle Funeral Home in Speedway as a greeter. It was then
She sold the family home at 5018 W. Caven Street purchased on May 8, 1951 and moved to Florida where she worked at Winn Dixie Grocery Store. She also worked
At Leesburg Regional Memorial Hospital in the surgery department prepping instruments that were used for surgeries. Finally, after 17 years, she returned to Indianapolis
to be close to all of her family once again. Our Mother’s legacy is in all of us-her immediate family. Mom’s traits, her expressions, Mom’s teachings, her life of survival in her
younger years and her strength to carry her through 91yrs here on earth. During the time from 1971, until she paid it off, she worked tirelessly to purchase 24 plots here at Crown Hill
for her children, grandchildren and some great grandchildren. She did this because she wanted her family close to her even in death. Mom was so proud for her accomplishments that she
then bought the Begley family stone “Rock of Ages”. Mom truly loved her family, carry that with you throughout your lifetime along with memories of her and what she instilled in all of us.
This will keep her alive for many generations to come. Mom told my daughter Michelle and I on Saturday that she was going home in four days and God called her home on Tuesday. Peacefully
With the faith that we have in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that our Mother taught us to follow, we are promised to see her again in that Heaven one day. Remember the metal pan and metal
spoon she used to wake you up with? Don’t you want to be with her again too?
Amen
