

Mac L. Sullivan died of natural causes on July 16, 2016 at the age of 92. Mac was born July 4, 1924 on the river steamer Cincinnati, which his parents, W.T. and Hattie Butler Sullivan, were traveling on to get to Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. He was born just as the Cincinnati passed under the Suspension Bridge headed for the Cincinnati wharf on the Ohio River. He grew up in Vevay, Indiana with two brothers, W.T. (Jack) Sullivan and William (Bill) Sullivan both of whom predeceased him. Mac graduated from Vevay High School and went on to attend and graduate from Purdue University with a degree in Pharmacy. While at Purdue, Mac was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity and a student manager of the basketball team. There was no more dedicated alumnus of Purdue University and his fraternity where he served on the Alumni Advisory Board of Beta Theta Pi (Beta Mu Chapter) and belonged to the John Purdue Club. He went to work for Eli Lilly and Company upon his graduation from Purdue and remained there until he retired in the 1980’s. Mac married Mary Ann Hereth (Ann) on August 14, 1948 and had two children, Nancy Ann Sullivan in 1950 and Thomas Warren Sullivan in 1953. Except for briefly living in the south, Mac and Ann lived their lives in Indianapolis where they were members of Woodland Country Club and later Twin Lakes Country Club and members and volunteers at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Mac was a Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite. Mac was an avid golfer, gardener, and was loved by his family for his gentle and kind spirit. Mac leaves behind his son, Thomas W. Sullivan and his fiancé Marcy Chamberlin of Zionsville, IN, daughter, Nancy Sullivan Schick and son-in-law, Robert W. Schick of Gloucester, MA, and granddaughter, Christine Simonet Meola and her husband, Kristopher Meola of Boston, MA. He was predeceased by his loving wife Ann H. Sullivan who died on December 31, 2014.
