Marcus Paulette Wilson-Holton

Marcus (Paula) was born in Indianapolis, IN to Mr. Cook and Winnie Elizabeth Kennedy on November 3, 1925. She attended Indianapolis Public Schools graduating from Crispus Attucks High School. Marcus continued her education graduating from Chicago School of Nursing in 1948. Her first marriage to Benny Wilson brought the apple of her eye, her daughter Brenda Wilson. Brenda had a son Mark E. Wilson, that brought Marcus pure joy as her only grandson. She later married Willie Holton October 3, 1986. She worked at Methodist hospital for 21 years retiring in 1986. She then worked at RCA for another 15 years. Marcus was extremely involved in the community and with the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Marcus loved her church and her pastor. She loved working with the children within the church as well as the community. Marcus was about scholarship, so she consistently put on fashion shows and other activities to help the children achieve the next level in their school career. She was the president of The National Council of Negro Women, an active member of the NAACP, International Girls Aid League, The Bridge Club, The Women's Ministry at New Bethel, National Southern Baptist Convention, The Historic Landmark Foundation, and the Cameo Club, amongst several Civic Clubs within the Indianapolis community.

Marcus is preceded in death by both parents Mr. Cook and Winnie Elizabeth Kennedy, her grandparents Lafayette and Elizabeth Kennedy, Daughter Brenda Wilson (Charles Dodson), Grandson Mark Wilson, both husbands Benny Wilson and Willie Holton, Five sisters Nelma G Bush, Carmeina Floyd-Law, Bernadine Floyd, Joann Thomas, and Barbara J Watkins and Brother William Garfield Overton.

Marcus is survived by four sisters Sarah Mason of Phoenix, AZ. Maryetta Overton, Eleanor Floyd, and Pearl Swanigan all of Indianapolis, IN. She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews, family, friends, and New Bethel MBC.

Visitation will be 12-2pm May 2, 2020 at Crown Hill Cemetery in the chapel.

Reverend Jack Reed of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church will be officiating words of comfort to the immediate family. Committal will follow. Arrangements are by Crown Hill Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to the family.
