

Marie was born on October 8, 1929, in Evansville, Indiana, to Richard and Hattie Tolliver. She graduated from Lincoln High School and married Harold Edwards, also from Evansville. Their union brought them their only child, Richard Wayne.
Later in life, Marie married David Anthony Amos, and together they built several businesses that enriched the entertainment community in Indianapolis. Professionally, Marie dedicated many years to the Fort Benjamin Harrison Army Finance Center, where she worked as a supervisor until her retirement. Not one to stay idle, she then embarked on a second career with Visiting Nurses, from which she ultimately retired.
Marie was a devoted and faithful Christian woman who lived her life with Christ as her guiding principle, setting a wonderful example for her family. She was a member of Scott's United Methodist Church and later returned to full communion with St. Rita Catholic Church, where she was a Lady of the Court.
Marie is preceded in death by parents, Richard and Hattie Tolliver, siblings: Lucille Hanes, Jean Tolliver, Andrew Tolliver, Robert Tolliver, and husband David Amos.
Marie is survived by son Richard Wayne Edwards (Angela), daughters: Detra Morgan (Kenneth), Diane Amos, brother Clarence Tolliver, grandchildren: Melanie Brown, Ja’Net Edwards-Dennis (Jermaine), Marissa Edwards, Desiree Smith Parker, Ashley Smith, great-grandchildren: Autumn, Alexandria, and Tahja Brown, Jermaine Jr. and Johana Dennis, Kingston and Kairo Scott, great-great grandson Kahlil Hunter, bonus grandchildren Geneeka Brown, Malik and Mahari, goddaughter’s: Gwen, Nancy, Tammy, Tracy and special bonus daughter Stephanie.
The family of Marie Amos would like to express our sincere appreciation to all the dedicated home health aides who provided such compassionate care for her during her final years.
We also want to thank our wonderful family, extended family, and friends for the outpouring of prayers and condolences we have received during this difficult time. Your support has meant the world to us.
A visitation for Marie will be held Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St Rita Catholic Church, 1733 Dr Andrew J Brown Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46202, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Marie will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery following the service.
