Marge was born in Indianapolis to Paul and Ruth Cornelius on February 10, 1932. She graduated from Shortridge High School. Then she attended Butler University where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She married Charles “Charlie” C. Kemper on August 10, 1953 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She worked for 16 years at Washington Township schools as a secretary and an instructional assistant at White River Elementary. She then continued as the bookstore manager at the J. Everett Light Career Center until her retirement.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolutionary and volunteered with the Hollis Adams Foundation, which supports adults with developmental disabilities in central Indiana. She was also a longtime member of Union Chapel Methodist Church.
She enjoyed playing cards, painting, ceramics, bingo and spending time with family. She brightened up every room she was in with her spunky personality and humorous demeanor. Her kindhearted and charismatic personality will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Charles C. Kemper, parents, Paul and Ruth Cornelius, brother, Paul Cornelius Jr. and grandson, Benjamin McVey.
She is survived by her son Mark Kemper (Carol Anne), daughter Karin Jacob (Gary), sister-in-law, Lee Cornelius and grandchildren, Ashley McCreary (Tyler), Ross Kemper (Madison), Allison Sundstrom (Kirk) and J.D. McVey, great-grandchildren Charlie and Ethan McCreary and Owen Kemper.
The visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00p.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Crown Hill Funeral Home: 700 West 38th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46208.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00-2:00p.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery: 700 West 38th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46208. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
