Michael “Keith” Bensley was born April 22, 1949, in Terre Haute, IN to Otis and Virginia “Jenny” Bensley (Oxford). He is preceded in death by his parents, brother James Bensley, and brother-in-law Michael Pauley.
Keith graduated from Gerstmeyer High School in 1967, then joined the IN Air National Guard. He worked for several car dealerships throughout the city as a service writer/advisor, for 35+ years. Keith is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy (Ell), sons David (Amanda Hall), Corey (Anna) Bensley, and daughter Julie (Gregg) Pulley. Grandchildren Kaitlyn Bensley, Owen and Olivia Pulley, Lydia, Nora, Cole Lakin, and Harrison Bensley, sister Melanie Pauley, and sister-in-law Melissa Bensley.
Additional survivors include his 97 year old uncle, Jerry Oxford, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Keith loved riding his many motorcycles over the years. After he was unable to ride, he carried a picture of his “baby” in his wallet, the last motorcycle he owned. He was an avid reader, and a weekly regular at the local library. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing- or as he called it “drowning worms”, shooting pool, going to Florida, Daytona Bike Week in the fall, and going to grandchildren’s various school and sporting events. He wrapped every gift he gave in paper from the Sunday “funnies”, and later on plain newspaper. He was always prepared to tell, or hear, a good joke, whether it was appropriate or not. Whenever asked how he was doing, the answer was always, “Living the Dream”.
No formal funeral service will be held. Please join the family for Keith’s Living the Dream Party, Sunday 11/12/23, at Red Curb Comedy Club in Avon, starting at 3 pm. Come tell stories, share memories, eat food, and enjoy friends and family.
