Michael R. Gabbert

Michael R. Gabbert, Jr., passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, one day after his 56th birthday. He was born on May 13, 1968, in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he lived for most of his life. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and attended Indiana University for two years. Michael loved everything Harley-Davidson, and he and his wife Carol enjoyed riding their Harley-Davidson motorcycles together whenever they could. Michael also enjoyed grilling and spending time in the backyard pool with his family. When he wasn’t working as a train mechanic for Amtrak, he enjoyed taking on new projects such as broken lawnmowers and seeing what he could fix up around the house. Michael is survived by his wife Carol Gabbert; daughter Sasha Hudson and her husband Scott; stepchildren Nicole Egner and her husband Fred, David Burgess and his wife Alysa; step-grandchildren Harmoni, Elaina, Tatum, Roman, and Salem; mother Beatrice “Suzie” (Kavanaugh) Gabbert; sisters Tracy Lewis and her husband Steve, Teresa Peterson and her husband Brian “B.J.”, and Tina Sabotin and her husband Eric; brother Patrick Gabbert and his wife Juretta; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his sister Tammy Schmitt. Services will be held on Friday, May 24, at the Family Funeral Care – Rockville West, located at 5791 Rockville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46224. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 7:00 p.m.
