Morris Lee Thompson, earthly sunrise was on March 12, 1947, to which he was the third of six sons born to Mr. James Weldon Thompson and Mrs. Willie Lillian Thompson of Kosciusko, Mississippi. He received his education and graduated from Crispus Attucks, as a youth Morris developed a personal strong belief in the Lord and was baptized believing that Jesus was the Son of God at St. Mission Full Gospel, where his father was a Senior Deacon.
Morris had a heart larger than life itself, although a man of very few words he never met a stranger, as Proverbs 18:24 reads ‘A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.’
Morris zest for learning and hard work ethics was among a ton of positive valuable traits, that was instilled in him as a young man, mainly because of his father James. It was not until he became a man of his own and fell deeply in love with little Miss. Barbara Reed, he left his father and mother, and they united in marriage on January 30,1971, following God words “to cleave unto his wife becoming one flesh”. Out of this union two children were born. While working as a janitor at Lafayette Square Mall part time, he accepted full time employment at Allison's Transmission to provide for his wife and children.
Morris was respectful, humble, kind, big hearted, laid back, a gentle caring man who just couldn't help himself! He took tremendous pride in taking care of his family and was also a dedicated, devoted man of integrity that also was firm on loyalty.
Morris absolutely was someone you could count on and would be of help in any way. He would open his home to those in need of a place to stay, rather short term or long term. Morris was a simple down to earth hard-working workaholic who loved paying bills, but the greatest honor & duty bestowed on him was the privilege of being put in a position where his purpose in life was to support, love, protect and PROVIDE for his family.
Morris also became head deacon of St. Joseph until the doors of the church permanently closed. Morris was the best!!!
After 38 years of employment with Allison's Transmission, Morris was forced to retire after suffering a back injury which he encountered debility, osteoporosis, and rheumatoid arthritis causing him to stop doing a lot of activities that he enjoyed doing specifically riding his motorcycle. And in 2013, he was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer which he conquered. However, his mobility rapidly declined causing him to be stricken of his independence.
Morris glory sunset was on November 1, 2022, preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. James W. Thompson.
