

Robert Louis Carson 73, of Beech Grove, passed away in the loving presence of his family on his birthday Sunday, February 20, 2011. Born to the late Dora E. (Miller) Carson and John M. Carson, Sr., Robert graduated from Emmerich Manual High School and between 1956 and 1962 served overseas as Yeoman Second Class Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy. While working in Paris for the Supreme Headquarters for Allied Powers of Europe he met his wife of 48 years, Audrey Mary Blackburne. Together they raised a family and owned and operated a business in Kokomo, Indiana. Upon returning to Indianapolis Bob worked as an administrative assistant for Crossroads Rehabilitation Center. His other contributions have included coordinating Candlelighters of Indiana, an outreach and advocacy organization for children with cancer and their families, as well as serving as national secretary for the U.S.S. Saratoga Reunion Association.
Bob's survivors include Audrey; their daughter Beverley Carson; sister Jane Ann Ferguson; brothers John and Frank; sisters-in-law Jean Ann (John), Ruth Ann (Frank), and Ronnie Blackburne Bentley; cousins Bill Miller and Bill Carson; and many nieces and nephews. We will miss his life-loving humor and sweet, giving spirit as he joins his beloved son, Byron, his sister Mollie Duning, brother's-in-law, Virgil Duning and Paul Ferguson and his mother and father in a place of eternal love and peace.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday February 26th, in Crown Hill Cemetery's Gothic Chapel, Interment, Crown Hill Cemetery.
