He served his country in the Army, served his community as a police officer (retired) and later went on to work and retire from the Gas Company. He was a faithful member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church for over thirty years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Mattie Kurtz, and his brother Homer Kurtz.
He leaves to cherish his memory his one and only child, daughter Pamela J. Kurtz; four grandchildren, Rhonda (Darren) Allen, David (Jina) Helms, Rachel and Desmond Kurtz; nine great grandchildren, Chandler Jacobs, Mikala, David, Sarai, Anjayla, Anthony, Amari and Brinli Helms and Aysia Kurtz; two great great grandchildren, Mekhi Brittain and Aiden Jacobs. He also leaves behind his brothers George and William Kurtz along with his nieces, nephews, friends, and other family.
