

A.D. Murphy was the son of the late Willie and Louise (Houston) Murphy. He was born in Blackfish, Arkansas on July 12, 1942. He received his primary education in the local area schools. Early in his life the family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. He was predeceased by his son Charles Murphy, his parents, and siblings; William, Oliver, Eddie, Willie G., Thomas, Charles, and Eugene Murphy.
A.D. was employed by the Indianapolis Water Company for 36 years. A.D. also worked at Green View Manor nursing home as a cook for fifteen years. He also was a Master Plumber and repair man. He retired from the Indianapolis Water Company in 2005.
In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing and traveling. He coached little league baseball at Forest Manor and St. Abon’s Church in his younger years. An ardent sports enthusiast he loved football, basketball, and baseball.
He committed himself to Christ and Christ Temple Apostolic Church. A.D. loved discussing the Bible. He loved Jesus Christ and was a member of Believers in Christ Sunday School.
A.D. leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life, the love of his life, his loving wife of 50 years Linda Murphy; children, Paul Murphy (Angela), Mitchell Murphy; daughter in law, Evelyn Fudzie Murphy; sisters, Earlene Battle, Ernestine Murphy, Johnnie Mae Huddleston, and Dorothy Mills (Twyman); brothers, Howard Murphy, Herbert Murphy, Melvin Murphy, and Sammy Murphy; six grandchildren, Maurice, William, Christine, Christian, Josh, Isys, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
