Mr. Henry W. Sawin

Henry W. Sawin 86 of Indianapolis passed away Thursday May 27, 2010. Hank was a great family man and a generous, loving person. He was born in Valparaiso, Indiana on July 7, 1923, the son of the late Ransom F. and Mary Ruth (Wilson) Sawin. Henry was the widower of Ann Etherington Sawin who passed in February 23, 2007. He was an engineering graduate of Purdue University and served in the United States Army Air Force. His career encompassed employment with Peerless Pump, Indianapolis and he retired from Western Electric. He was a member of Ellenberger United Church of Christ and Indiana Telephone Pioneers. Henry is survived by a daughter, Diane Housemeyer (Doug) of Carmel, IN, a son, Dale B. Sawin (Vicki) of Scottsburg, IN two sisters, Marianna Willis of Franklin, IN, Dorothy Jessup of Anderson, IN Along with three grandsons Jared Sawin (Katie) of Okinawa, Japan, Matt Housemeyer, Bristol, CT and Griff Housemeyer of Carmel, IN and a great grandson Finn Sawin. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday June 2, 2010 at 11:00 am in Crown Hill Funeral Home where friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 pm Tuesday and one hour prior to service on Wednesday. Interment with Military Honors will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be given in Hank's name to the donor's favorite charity. Online condolences may be shared at www.crownhill.org .
