Mr. Harry Vorhis

Mr. Harry Vorhis, the son of the late William and Willa Bridgewater Vorhis, was born February 22, 1910 in Indianapolis, Indiana

He professed his faith in Christ at an early age. He attended The Indianapolis Public Schools.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Viola Gowdy (1940) and Virginia Ray (1977). Both preceded him in death.

Preceding him in death; Five Brothers; Harold, James, Cecil, Clarence, Leon Vorhis. Two sons and a daughters-in-law; Thomas Trice Sr (Elsie Trice) and Abraham Trice; step-daughter; Alma L. Cambridge; granddaughter, Vicki Marie Williams; great-granddaughter, Deriece DeAnn Williams

He retired from Indianapolis Public Schools (Crispus Attucks High School) in 1975. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.

Mr. Harry Vorhis, affectionately called, "Daddy V' and "Grand Paw" loved to tell jokes. His long term memory was remarkable. To sit and listen to all the fond memories he held was a privilege.

Mr. Harry Vorhis departed this life Friday March 15, 2013 at the age of 103 and 21 days.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife Bertha Byrd Vorhis; two daughters, Victoria Vorhis and LaVada (Alvin) Clark, 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Natalie Hodges, sister-in-law, Ruth (Jesse) Young, Akron, OH; and a best friend for over 50 years, Mr. Charles E. Mays Sr. and a host of relatives and cherished friends.
