Raymond F. Welch 89 of Indianapolis died December 10, 2009 in St. Francis Hospital Beech Grove, Indiana after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Raymond was born May 9, 1920 in Burlington Iowa the son of Michael and Katherine (Smith) Welch. Ray retired from the sales division of L. S. Ayres Department Stores in Indianapolis. He was an Army veteran of WWII. Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Welch July 1, 2009, along with his parents and nine siblings. His sister Veronica Loserth, nieces Rita Bronson (Richard), Susan Erbland (John), Stephanie Bridges, Dick Welch (Jackie), and Ron Welch, and a great-niece Elizabeth Linquist (Chad) all of Burlington survive him. Funeral services will be Thursday December 17, 2009 at 1:00 pm in the Gothic Chapel of Crown Hill Cemetery, 34th and Boulevard Place, Indianapolis, IN, with calling from 11:30 am until service time. Interment with military honors will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
