Dorothy L. Davenport Born July 23, 1918, passed away on November 4, 2008. She graduate from Arsenal Technical High School in 1936 and retired from Detroit Diesel Allison (GM) in 1979. Dorothy was a lifelong member of Ben Davis Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 and a half years, Arthur M. Davenport; son, Brian Davenport and granddaughter, Anne Marie Schneider as well as a sister, Rose Parsons and brothers, Paul and Joseph Rayman. She is survived by her children, John M. Davenport (Norma), Paula E. Davenport (Rick) and Douglas R. Davenport (Linda) and a sister, Helen Newland. Also surviving are two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild as well as nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Humane Society of Indianapolis, 7929 N. Michigan Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46268 or to your favorite charity. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 11 at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, from 11:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m.
