Our Beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Great-great-grandmother, Friend...
BEVERLY was born September 16, 1930 in Greenville, Ohio to the late Lawrence McConnell and Elizabeth Virginia Payne. She departed this life on December 25, 2012. She was a graduate of Richmond High School in Richmond, Indiana.
At the age of 20, she married Jerome Henderson, her high school sweetheart.
She was a wife, mother, and homemaker until the family moved from Richmond to Indianapolis. Then, as her children became school age, she was able to join the workforce. She was employed by the IMCPL and Summit House until retirement.
To her immediate family, church family and friends, Beverly was a generous, loving, nurturing servant that reached out to any and all in need. Her life revolved around her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Beverly, many times over, displayed a warm, loving servant's heart. One example was her service to the Lord as the President of the Stewardess Board at Robinson Community A.M.E. Church; always available and ready to serve at a moment's notice.
Family, family dinners or potluck gatherings were her most cherished moments. She had a special touch that made each and every one of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren feel as if they were all that mattered at that moment when you were in her presence. Her favorite flower was the lilac and favorite color was "lavender."
BEVERLY leaves to cherish her memory: children, Sharon Scott (George), Judy McCrary, Kevin Henderson (Peggy), Jerra Henderson, Jana Williams (Bryant), Steven Henderson (Lamia), 20 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Chuck McConnell and Winston Morgan, and a host of other family members and friends.
