

Myron “Joe” Pryor was born on April 8, 1951, in Indianapolis, IN, to Lillie Mae Pryor and Alonzo Pollock. He was a cherished father, grandfather, brother, husband, and a highly esteemed friend to many. Joe passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 27, 2025, with family by his side.
Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Mae Pryor; his father, Alonzo Pollock; his brother, Dorsey Pryor; and his grandson, Jerrell Pryor. He is survived by his wife, April Pryor; daughters, Erin Williams (Kendall) and Laurie Compton (James); son, Myron "Terrell" Pryor; stepson, Bryan K. Harris Jr.; sister, Beverly Jones; brothers, Lannie Pryor, Sam Pryor, Kevin Walker, and Anthony Walker; nine grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Joe was a devoted Catholic, accepting Christ as his savior at an early age. He was a proud graduate of Cardinal Ritter High School, where he excelled in football and track. He held the 100-yard dash record for several years due to his exceptional track achievements.
After graduating from high school, Joe enlisted in the Army in March 1975 and served until February 1978. He then joined the Marine Corps from February 1978 to November 1991, serving in the Gulf War as Sergeant Pryor. During his service, he received several awards, including the National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Mast, and Kuwait Liberation Medal. After his military career, Joe worked with the United States Postal Service as a mail handler and forklift operator, retiring after 20 years of service.
Joe had an infectious laugh, a gentle soul, and an undying spirit. He cherished moments spent with his family and friends, and his unwavering love and kindness will be fondly remembered by many.
Visitation will take place at Saint Peter and Paul Cathedral, located at 1347 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, on March 14, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Fr. James Brockmeier will officiate the service, which will immediately follow. The burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery after the service.
