

August 4th, 2012. She was born February 20, 1938 in
Hopkinsville, KY. Educated in the Vigo County Public School system
She graduated in 1973 from the former
Indiana Business College. She was employed at Indiana State University from 1974 – 2000 in the Office
of the President, in which she was the first black female administrative assistant to work in that office. She was a member
of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), where she served as a
former secretary for the Greater Terre Haute Branch. She was a former member of the Professional
Secretaries International and a former member of the Wabash Valley Optimist Club. She was a member
of the House of Hope Worship Ministries, Indianapolis, She was preceded in death by her parents, and 13 siblings. She is survived by 3
sons: Cardia Smith (Georgett), Columbia, TN, Timothy Dunn, and Pastor Sylvester Dunn, II (Philana)
of Indianapolis; one sister, Stella Fairrow, Terre Haute, IN.; 8 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
Special friend of over 30 years, John D. “Trinidad” Beckles of Indianapolis, and a host
of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Services will be held on Friday at 12 noon at the Saints Home
Church of God In Christ, 2210 North 13th St. Terre Haute. Visitation will
be Thursday from 4 to 8 at the church. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery Terre Haute. Arrangements have
been entrusted to the Williams and Bluitt Funeral Home, Indianapolis. Condolences can be sent to
