

Nick Longworth (Edgar), 82, passed away September 3 at his home in Carmel, IN. He leaves a deep and loving footprint in the hearts and minds of his family and friends.
His most personally cherished contributions in life occurred following his professional career as a photojournalist, political professional and public servant. Notably, he aided in the development of democratic election systems in Cambodia and Tajikistan. A natural and beloved mentor, he generously shared his knowledge and skills through volunteerism. Longworth held high-level government and political positions in Washington, DC, including the U.S. Departments of State and Agriculture; the Veteran's Administration; and Office of Governor Otis Bowen. His national political career included work with the Republican National Committee and the Reagan-Bush '84 campaign. He was active in Indiana politics and served the City of Indianapolis during Mayor Richard Lugar's administration. He consulted on national, state and local political campaigns. Longworth spent the 1960's as a photojournalist for the Indianapolis News and the Fort Wayne News Sentinel. Highlights there include coverage of John F. Kennedy's Presidential Inauguration, and the Berlin Wall. He served in the U.S. Army in Japan, and as a locomotive engineer for the NY Central Railroad. He was a member of Sigma Delta Chi, the National Press Club and the Indianapolis and Fort Wayne press clubs, and the Columbia Club.
His children are Eric Longworth , Phoenix, AZ; Alisa Pittrizzi, Orlando, FL; Nanci Albrecht, Indianapolis, Nikki Longworth, Greencastle, IN; and Deborah Harrison, Shirley, IN. He has 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
