

Patricia was born to Clyde Ashby and Margaret Chandler Ashby on June 23, 1941, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. She graduated from IPS 87 and Attucks High School. She was the third oldest of six children and 4 stepchildren. She united in marriage to Edward Lee Dowdell on June 11, 1966.
Patricia was a long-time employee of Methodist Hospital, working there for over 40 years as a Tech and EMT. She loved to laugh and had an abundance of friends from childhood, school and her job. She was a very dedicated and loyal friend to all that she loved.
Patricia was a Jehovah's Witness. She attended the Riverside Congregation. Patricia loved cooking and being with family more than anything else in the world. She also enjoyed catering for family and friends. Patricia was a special person and tried to be kind to people that came into her circle. She taught us how to live in a positive way by being an example. We thought she was going to be here forever because in the past when she got sick, which was very seldom. she always bounced back. Patricia will be remembered as a strong woman who devoted her life to serving others and loving her family and friends. She was an understanding mother as well.
Patricia is proceeded in death by her husband Edward Lee Dowdell (February 8th, 2022) and her sisters: Jacqueline Wilson, Elizabeth Anderson, and Carolyn Mitchell, and brothers: David and Clyde Ashby.
Survivors include daughters: Jacqueline Bumphus and Dawn Bryant (Gibson); sons: David L. Dowdell and James E. Dowdell; sisters: Carol Jones, Joyce Coleman, Rachel and Precious; brother: Clyde Williams; grandson: Cantrelle Johnson (Ebony) and great-grandchildren: Jaylin, Jordan and Jaden Johnson.
