Pat always started her days by reading the obituary, wanting to know if she was in there, so she’d know if she had to go to work. Mom… You don’t have to work today.
Pat was open and giving. In addition to keeping her own on kids on track, hard as that was, she “raised” many neighborhood kids as her own and her doors were always open to anyone. She believed, and she taught us all, when we didn’t have much, it was still something, and we should share it and serve, and she taught us humility by welcoming those with something to give when we were in need.
Pat lived fully and genuinely. With all the reasons in the world, she was never a victim and always stronger and more capable for that which she endured, and the lessons life offered.
She was an incredibly hard worker and believed in earning her way and supporting others in earning theirs. She was incredibly loving, and fair, and she exemplified the principle of “No man is better than me, and I am not better than any man…” Because of her many examples, her kids and grandkids are living lives she was incredibly proud of.
Pat was unapologetically a smart-ass. She was funny and she loved to laugh. She loved reading, most things purple, including flowers and huckleberries, anything Montana, and turning everything into a Song.
She left this world as she lived in it… on her own terms and with style. She caught a ride on the Christmas Star on the Winter Solstice.
A small celebration of Pat’s life will be held in Indianapolis on Feb 6th at Crown Hill Funeral Home from 12 – 4pm. Her family will gather on her 75th Birthday in Montana to embrace one another, to share all that she has been for us… and to spread her ashes in the place she loved most.
