Paulette Marie Massey

Paulette M. Massey, known as “Birdie” was born on October 6, 1951 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Elizabeth Massey. Paulette received her elementary and secondary education from the Indianapolis Public System, and graduated from Harry E. Wood High School in June 1971.
Having dedicated her life to Christ, she was a member of Loving Missionary Baptist Church, and later joined Mount Carmel Baptist Church. A caring and loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and neighbor, she was always there when needed to lend a helping hand. She enjoyed shopping, reading, word searches and collecting Barbie Dolls.
Paulette had over 25 years of experience in the optometry industry. She was employed at Dr. Tavel Optical from 1973 to 1994 and Bell Optical Laboratory from 1994 to 2003. In 2005 she joined IU Health, retiring in 2015. Having a need to keep busy she returned to work at IU Health in 2017.
Paulette departed this life on October 8, 2020 at the age of sixty-nine. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, oldest brother Duane J. Massey, and youngest brother Kevin L. Massey.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Felicia Armstrong; two sisters, Darcia E. Brown and Linda J. Brown; two brothers, Paul E. Massey (twin) and Fred C. Massey; four nieces, Kimberly Massey-Sargent, Keisha Raine, Erika Kelley, and Monique Evans; one nephew, Antoine Turner; eight great nieces, six great nephews, one great-great niece, and a host of cousins and friends.
Service for Paulette will be held, 4:00 pm, Monday, October 19, 2020, at Williams and Bluitt Funeral Home Peoples' Chapel, 5252 E. 38th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, with visitation from 2:00 pm until time of service at 4:00 pm, all taking place at Williams and Bluitt Funeral Home.
