

RICHARD E. EDMONDS was born on June 16, 1927 in Bloomington, Indiana and he was the third son (William Fredrick and Julius) of the late William T. Edmonds and Avis (Hill) Edmonds. He attended Bannher Grade School and Bloomington High School.
At the age of 17, Richard left Bloomington High to join the Navy, which he served 2 years during World War II. He attended Aviation Metal School learning how to repair aircrafts. After being honorable
discharged from the Navy, Richard went to California seeking employment during this time he sent for his
girlfriend, Dorothy Anderson. On October 9, 1947 they married. Richard and Dorothy returned to Bloomington, Indiana where after seven months, they were blessed with twin boys (Donald and Ronald Edmonds) on July 12, 1948. On February 8, 1950 they were blessed with their third child Avis Edmonds.
Richard worked at several car repair shops and had the opportunity to work at Curry Buick as a Lubrication Man. During this time, he watched other mechanics working on engines and other parts of the car. Richard was giving a chance to repair engines on automobiles that came into the shop. He was then sent to Transmission School, upon graduating he became the Lead Transmission Specialist in the shop. From there, he left Curry Buick in 1966 to work at Monark Buick in Indianapolis, Indiana, which was sold to Wises Buick and then to Stilzer Buick where he became shop Foreman and Service Manager before retiring in the year of 1990. After retirement, he worked at Target Department Store part-time for 12 years before retiring for good.
Richard turned over his life to the Lord on June 1960 at Second Baptist Church in Bloomington,
Indiana, where he was member of the Deacon Board, Financial Secretary and President of the Baptist Training Union until 1967. He was a member at Zion Hope Baptist Church since 1977.
Preceding Richard in death is Dorothy Mae Edmonds (wife), Avis Hines (mother), William T. Edmonds (father), Jude Edmonds, Freddy Edmonds (Brothers), Betty Edmonds (Sister-Law), Christina Edmonds Granddaughter).
Richard is survived by three children; Avis (and Edmonds) Harris, Donald Edmonds (Mary) and Ronald
Edmonds. (Eva), Sister Georgia Bland and Katherine Anderson. Grandchildren, Regina Meadows, Rochelle Coles, Chris Edmonds, Chrischelle Edmonds, Aaron Edmonds, Brandon Edmonds, Tony Edmonds and Donna Edmonds, he also leaves to cherish his memory 30 great Grandchildren, nephews and nieces; Jacquelin, Johnny (Lois), Danny Bland, Patricia Henry (Wayne), Yvonne Bland, a host of great and great-great nieces, nephews, love ones and friends.
