Robert Leo Ross

94, of Indianapolis passed away on January 27, 2016. He was born July 27, 1921 in Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Julia Keating Ross, parents James and Mary Pfarr Ross, siblings James Ross, Msgr Charles Ross and Irene Pothast. He is survived by his children Theresa (Robert) Desautels, Donna Ross and Jerry (Julie) Ross, 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Robert was a veteran of WWII as a naval pilot and proud member of VPB 117, The Blue Raiders Squadron. As a pilot and navigator he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for exemplary service to our country. After the war he was a fire fighter but soon went to work for Western Electric, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Fatima Council and the Silvertones. He was also a member of the American Legion and Ancient Order of Hibernians. Funeral services will be Monday February 1 at 9:30 am at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Little Flower Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday January 31, 2016 from 4 – 8 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
