

Ronda Lee “Ron” Chinn, 73, of Bellaire, Michigan, passed away in Indianapolis on Monday, June 19, 2017. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on May 10, 1944, to the late Claude Wilson and Ann Marie (nee Ferguson) Chinn. He was a longtime resident of the Indianapolis area and also previously resided in New Hampshire for nearly two decades. Ron was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served in the Vietnam War. Ron’s best fortune in the Air Force was meeting a young enlisted woman named Linda M. Hebert, who became his wife of more than 49 years. In his young adulthood, Ron had a series of jobs that included concrete tester, water department employee, real estate sales, and assistant to a paper company executive. After graduating from Indiana Central College and earning his CPA license, Ron spent his professional career as an auditor and manager for the federal Defense Contract Audit Agency. In later years at the agency, Ron managed the European branch, which took him on assignments to Western Europe, the Middle East, and Russia. Ron’s personal interests included the history and antiquities of ancient civilizations; blues and jazz music; and professional basketball and baseball. He was an avid animal lover and thought of his pets as children. In addition to his wife Linda Chinn, Ron is survived by son, Scott (Catherine Parker) Chinn; daughter, Jennifer (David) Nelson; granddaughter, Diana Nelson; grandson, Philip Nelson, and brother-in-law David Hebert.
