

92, of Carmel, Indiana, departed this life in the early morning on Friday, September 6, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born April 5, 1932 in Indianapolis to the late Edward & Mary Agnes (Lavell) Hegarty. She was a graduate of St. Agnes Academy and then graduated from Marian College with her associate’s degree. Rosie then earned her Radiology Technologist credentials at Methodist Hospital. Rosie worked most of her life as an X-Ray technician while raising a loving family.
Rosie was a kind and gentle soul who dedicated her life to faith and family. Throughout her journey, she always gave of herself to others with a touch of her Irish heritage. Loving yet firm. She was grateful of every day that God gave her and always supported her children in all of their endeavors. Rosie was a former dedicated member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and currently a member of St. Pius X Parish where she was a warm and familiar face. She was an accomplished Bridge player and often played at St. Pius on Friday afternoons. Rosie was happiest though making meaningful memories with her loving family.
Rosie was preceded in death by her beloved infant son, Chris Adamson and Jimmy Adamson at the age of 26 years. She was also preceded in death by her dear siblings, Edward Hegarty, Agnes Lux, Rita O’Connor and Nancy Condon and her great-grandson, Joshua James Short.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, John J. “Jack” Adamson; devoted daughters, Nancy (Dr. Kevin) Short, Janice (Rusty) Hart and Carol (Dan) LaReau; dear sisters, Margie Miller and Maureen Elliott; grateful grandchildren, Ryan (Lindsay) Short, Kelly (Owen) Jamison, Michael Short, Jeff Short, Eric Short, Russell Hart, Adam Hart, Erin Hart, Meegan Hart, and Chris LaReau; beloved great-grandchildren, Rosie, Ellie, Clare, John Paul and Madelynn Short, Max, Carter, Brody and Abigail Jamison along with a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends at The Barrington.
Visitation for Rosie will begin at 10:00am on Tuesday, September 17th at St. Pius X Catholic Church (7200 Sarto Drive) and conclude at time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Interment follows on Wednesday at Calvary Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her sons.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in her name to Riley Children’s Hospital Pediatric Cerebral Palsy Program.
