Obituary of S. Thomas Goble
Stanley Thomas Goble (78) of Ellettsville, passed away on February 20, 2024 in Bloomington, Indiana. Tom was born in Columbus to Hubert and Naomi (Force) Goble on March 20, 1945. He grew up in Westport and attended the Waynesburg Christian Church. Tom graduated from Jackson Township High School in 1963. He later graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Tom lived in Greensburg from 1967-1985 where he was a member of the First Christian Church, and was later broker/owner for the local Century 21 office. Tom joined the Indiana State Police in 1966 and worked out of the Lawrenceburg, Versailles, Seymour, and Indianapolis districts. He was promoted to rank of Sergeant and retired as a Public Information Officer in 1994. Tom enjoyed his 28-year career in law enforcement being well-known locally for his ‘Trooper Tom’ newspaper column and radio spots. He supported youth introduction to law enforcement careers through the Indiana State Police Career Camp. After retiring, Tom continued to support the Indiana State Police through participation in the Pioneers organization. He also enjoyed subsequent career endeavors including promotional product sales, franchise ownership, and security at Cook Medical. Tom enjoyed a variety of interests, including sailing, farming, fishing, running, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by Hubert and Naomi Goble (parents) and John Steven Goble (brother). Tom is survived by daughters Laura (Brad) Bledsoe and Krista (Eric) Jones; sister Nancy Meyer (Stan); grandchildren Mackenzie Jones, Gavin Jones, Kennedy Jones, Braxton Jones, Bryce (Lauren) Bledsoe, Jillian Bledsoe, and great-grandchildren Beau Bledsoe. A visitation will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Crown Hill Funeral Home with Indiana State Police Chaplain Daniel Coffey officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
