Sallie Candis Fields, 97, of Indianapolis, IN passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023. Sallie was born January 26, 1926, in Raleigh, NC to parents Dewey and Joeanna Splawn. She graduated from Stephen Lee High School in 1942.
She later moved to Indianapolis and married James H. Fields, Jr. Sallie was employed at Fort Benjamin Harrison for 10 ½ years. She loved gardening and was a skilled beautician. Light of The World Christian Church was her church home. She was a caring friend who shared her love life. “Momma Sallie” was greatly loved and will forever be remembered by family and friends.
Sallie was predeceased by her parents and brother, Felix Spawn. She is survived by her son, Ronald Mahaffey and granddaughter, Stephanie Reed.
Her urn will be placed in the family crypt next to James at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis, IN.
Per Sallie’s final wishes, there will be no services.
