Sarah was born in Gracey, KY, on September 19, 1931, to the late Stella Coleman and Adam Coleman Sr. Sarah, along with her brother and sister, grew up in Indianapolis. A graduate of Crispus Attucks High School, Sarah would go on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). She worked as a dietitian at Butler University before retiring after more than thirty years of exemplary service.
In 1951, Sarah married the late Donald DeMar, who preceded her in death in 1982. Together they lovingly raised three children. Throughout her life, Sarah was an avid baker and cook. She also enjoyed fashion, modeling, as well as fitness and nutrition.
Sarah is survived by her siblings, Mary Strange and Adam Coleman Jr., both of Indianapolis, and her three children: David A. Coleman Sr. (Brenda) of Concord, NC; Carolyn DeMar of Indianapolis, IN; and Anthony C. DeMar of Concord, NC. Sarah's presence will also be deeply missed by her nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
