

Shanon was born on March 15, 1987, to Lorrie Barnett and Cary Miller in Indianapolis, IN. She attended grade school in Indianapolis until Shanon and her mother relocated to Forestville, Maryland in the mid-90s, where she later graduated from Suitland High School in 2006.
After high school, Shanon attended several colleges including Gibbs College, Prince George’s Community College and Coppin State University; she received her Certified Nursing Assistant and Associate’s degree along the way. While she was a student and working as a CNA, she was also a Small Business Owner of Yoni by Shay.
Her most recent accomplishment was to pursue her lifelong desire of being a registered nurse. Shanon enrolled in Nursing school at College of Southern Maryland where she was just four months shy of being pinned as a Registered Nurse. Despite her passing prior to formally finishing her degree requirements, her school will award her nursing degree as scheduled, and she will forever be referred to as Nurse Shanon.
Someone said “If you had me at hello was a person that was Shanon.” Shanon was known for her vibrant spirit and infectious laughter, which brightened the lives of everyone she encountered. She had a passion for life, always eager to explore new adventures and create unforgettable moments with her loved ones. Throughout her life, Shanon demonstrated immense strength and resilience, facing challenges with grace and determination. Her kindness and compassion extended beyond her immediate circle, as she was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Shanon was preceded in death by her loving paternal grandparents Kary and Bernice Miller; her brother Bryce Anthony William Miller. She is survived by her beloved grandparents Gwendolyn Locke and Earnest (Chris) Barnett of Indianapolis; loving mother, Lorrie (Andre) Bert of Maryland and father Cary Miller; brothers: Rodney Donell (Tammy) Wilkins, Wendell (Adgereana) Stewart II of Indianapolis, Brandon Kimbrew, Desmond Miller and Davrick Black; sisters Brooklyn (Micheal) Harding of Texas, Bobbi (Marquis) of Wisconsin, and Carrie Miller of Indianapolis; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Shanon Marie Barnett, will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved her.
A visitation for Shanon will be held Monday, September 23, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Barnes United Methodist Church, 900 W 30th St, Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM.
