

Shirley A. Bates Moore Lyles was born August 6, 1934 to Charles A. Bates and Mary Sarver Bates in Indianapolis, Indiana. She attended Crispus Attucks High School. Shirley worked at 40 Minute Cleaners for over thirty years, retiring in 1999.
She was a long time member of Eastern Star Church where she was a member of the Senior Saints, a Missionary and member of the hospitality ministry. She especially enjoyed cooking and serving at the Churches funerals. She loved Church and worship service. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and traveling with the “Golden Girls.” Shirley was dedicated to everything that she was involved in, including her family, Church and friends. If she was asked to do anything, you could count on her to do it. To know her was to love her. Shirley reported to the hospitality committee as if it was her job. She was the glue to everything and everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Michael A. Moore and Keith A. Moore.
Shirley is survived by children: Dwight D. Moore, Pamela McKinney, Vanessa M. Rutledge, Terri L. Fields and Michelle A. Moore, twenty three grandchildren, thirty two great grandchildren and the “Golden Girls:” Cordelia Milton, Clotus Kimbrough and Jeanette Craig.
Her visitation will take place on Friday, November 15, 2013, 5pm to 8pm at Williams & Bluitt Funeral Home, Peoples Chapel. The Homegoing Celebration will commence promptly at 5pm on Saturday, November 16, 2013 in Williams & Bluitt Funeral Home Peoples Chapel. The entombment will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery on Monday, November 18, 2013.
