Thomas B. Suter

Thomas B. Suter, Jr. 65 Thomas Bruce Suter, 65, of Plainfield, Indiana passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home, on December 11, 2017. Tom was born in Martinsville, Indiana on April 16, 1952 to Thomas Suter Sr. and Joan Suter. He graduated from Martinsville High School in June of 1970 and enlisted in the United States Navy one month later on July 9, 1970. A Vietnam Veteran, Tom was proud to serve his country including two tours (1972 and 1974) in the Vietnam War as a Gunner's Mate. Tom married Sue Suter (Richardson) on January 16, 1982 in Dublin, Texas; they were married 35 years. Tom and Sue shared many experiences together in their 35 years of marriage. Tom, a group leader for United Technologies Corporation, Carrier, retired after 36 years. He was also an active member of the American Legion Post 145, Avon Indiana. An admirer of music he enjoyed singing and was a karaoke host in his spare time. Devoted to travel; he was an avid cruiser spending many vacations at sea. Smoking food for family and friends was always a joy to him. His biggest love; however, was the time he spent with his grandchildren. Tom is survived by his wife, Sue; his daughter Kellie McMains- Woods of Columbus, IN; sons Philip Alexander and Jerry Alexander of Plainfield, IN; daughter Michelle Suter of Indianapolis, IN; his grandchildren Dakota Hardas of Terre Haute, IN; Savannah Garret of Columbus, IN; Nathan Alexander, Parker Suter, and Kylie Suter of Indianapolis, IN; sisters Brenda Bowman of Cloverdale, IN; Belinda Bowman of McCordsville, IN, Betty Newman of Livingston, TX; brothers William (Bill) Suter of Indianapolis, John Suter of Danville, and Chris Suter of Plainfield; and a multitude of nieces and nephews, family and friends. Tom is preceded in death by his son Kyle Thomas Suter, his parents Thomas Suter, Sr, and Joan Suter, and his sister Beverly Norris. Visitation will be held at 4:00 pm until 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Family Funeral Care, 5791 Rockville Road, Indianapolis. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on December 18,2017 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 6000 W 34th Street, Indianapolis, IN. Father Michael O'Mara of St. Gabriel Catholic Church with be officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at West Ridge Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Family Funeral Care. The family request a memory share in lieu of sympathy cards. Card for memory share will be available at Family Funeral Care. In lieu of flowers the family would like to request a memorial donation for 529 College Fund for his grandchildren. The family of Tom Suter wishes to thank Premier Hospice and VA Palliative Care team.
