

Virginia "Ginny" Hatfield, 78, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013 surrounded by her family. A lifelong Hoosier, she was born to the late Stanley M. and Virginia R. Meng on January 9, 1935, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Ginny, as she was known to family and friends, graduated from Decatur Central High School in 1953. She worked at CIGNA insurance company for 30 years until she retired in 1995.
Ginny was a prolific reader with a wide variety of topical interests. She often worked part-time at bookstores to have greater exposure to new books, and to share her reading passion with others. She loved to watch old movies and local Indiana sports teams, her favorite being the Indianapolis Colts. Ginny was also a talented bridge player and loved to join in with friends and family for games. Her greatest pride came from raising her family.
Ginny is survived by her sons, Jeff (Janet) Hatfield of Langhorne, PA and John (Christine) Hatfield of Scottsdale, AZ; and her sister, Valentia (Glen) Jacobs of Fishers, IN; nephew Eric (Allison) Jacobs of Atlanta, GA; and niece Heather (Andy) Wyant of Sharpsville, IN. Ginny also leaves behind three grandchildren, Steven, Brian and Sophie, who gave her much joy and happiness.
