Walter Lee Wooden Sr.

The Wooden family moved to Saginaw, Michigan, where Walter attendeded the Saginaw Public School System and was a graduate of Saginaw High School.

Walter professed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Johnnie Goodman in Saginaw, Michigan.

Walter moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1994 and united with the Christian Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, where he was the Head Drummer and a member of the Male Chorus.

Walter met the love of his life, the former Pamela Broadie and they united in Holy Matrimony on August 18, 2007.

Walter was employed at Epson Company where he was a Fork Life Operator until he became ill in 2014.

Walter's passion in life was playing the drums, working with his hands and Bar-Be-Queing for his family and friends. Walter loved his family, church and drums.

Walter was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Walter Lee Wooden, Sr. departed this life on Friday, March 27, 2015 at the age of 57 years. Walter was preceded in death by his father, Joe Willie Wooden; daughter, Aaliyah Wooden; grandmother, Sarilla Nathaniel Ruth, grandmother, Susie Dean Pryor and nephew, Marvel Wooden.

Walter leaves to cherish his memories: beloved wife, Pamela D. Wooden; sons, Walter Lashan Johnson, Sr., Walter Lee Wooden Jr, Michael Washington (Patrice) and Christopher Goodlow Jr, daughters, Monique Pirtle, Monica Pirtle, Markia Baker (Luther) and Martia Brodie; mother, Josephine Ruth Wooden; brothers, Fred Hutton, Larry Wooden (Patricia), Eddie Lee Wooden, Kenny Wooden (Susan) and Curtis Wooden(Latrisha); sister, Joyce Wooden- Johnson (Maurice); 20 grandchildren host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

His visitation will take place on Saturday, April 4, 2015, 10am-11am, with the Homegoing Celebration commencing at 11am at Christian Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. His burial will take place in New Crown Cemetery.
