William A Bannon

Bill was born June 14, 1939 to John and Shellie Bannon of Indianapolis.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy Bannon, brother Mike Bannon (Mary) and his 6 children Tony Bannon (Sherry), Teresa Bannon-Nelis, Cheryl Fitzgerald, Robert Fitzgerald (Tina), Bill Fitzgerald, and Melinda Holman (Paul),

Bill was a retired Indianapolis Fire Department engineer. He joined IFD in March of 1964. During his 41 years of service with the department he loved driving the fire apparatus. Spending 35 years behind the wheel for the department, including station 19 C shift, at the time of his retirement January 3, 2005.

After the department Bill enjoyed spending time with all of his family including his 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. During summer months Bill could be found planning the next camping trip to Indiana Beach with all of the grandkids, or taking care of his well manicured lawn. He loved the outdoors, spending the afternoons watching his grandkids' and great grandchildren's' sporting events, and taking vacations to Florida with his wife.

Visitation will be at Crown Hill Funeral Home December 23, 2019 from 4-7pm with a service immediately following.
