William received his education through Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School.
Later in life, William professed his faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. On July 30, 2005, he was united in Holy Matrimony with his wife, Vivian, with whom he shared twenty blessed years of marriage.
William was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, granddad (affectionately known as “Papi”), and uncle. He took great pride in caring for his children and grandchildren and never missed a memorable moment with them. In 2005, William also became a foster parent and mentor, opening his heart and home to many young people. His guidance, discipline, and genuine love left a lasting impact on the lives he touched — teaching many the importance of respect, hard work, and perseverance.
If you knew William, you knew he loved to dress sharp and took special pride in his shoes.
William was a stubborn and proud man — he liked things his way or no way at all — but that strong will was both a gift and a curse. Beneath it all, he had a heart of gold and would help anyone he could, whenever he could. He truly never met a stranger.
William Franklin Berry departed this life peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the age of 72.
