July 24, 1981 - April 23, 2020
William Henry Dawn, III - fondly called "Billy, Bill, BibBop or Will," passed away Thursday April 23, 2020 at his home in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born July 24, 1981 to William Henry Dawn, Jr and Margie A Taylor Dawn at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana.
Billy attended: St Andrew the Apostle Catholic School, John Strange Elementary, Eastwood Middle School and North Central High School graduating in the 1998-1999 school year. He then attended Rose Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute Indiana.
Billy did a summer internship at General Motors in his Junior year of High School. After high school and Rose Hulman, he worked at various jobs. He spent 2 years in Chandler Arizona where he worked at PD Shredding Company. Most recent employments were Outback Restaurant, Charleston Restaurant and Drakes Restaurant, Indianapolis.
William Henry Dawn, III was married to Abigail Leigh Remsen. They were married in Gilbert Arizona, but resided in Indianapolis, IN. He and Abigail were married for 7 years. To that marriage, one son was born, William Henry Dawn, IV.
Bill was such a fun-loving person. All that met him liked him because he was so charismatic with a GREAT smile. Bill could join-in in any group and met no strangers. He loved to sing, in the shower, walking down the street, sitting on the porch or whatever chore he set out to do. He sang very loudly to songs like "Suddenly Seymore", "...and I am telling you, you're gonna love me",(Jennifer Hudson from Dreamgirls), and the $5 Footlong song. He was so dramatic with the songs, one could only laugh. He loved video games in the early years and had quite a collection.
Bill learned about the Love of God in his early years. He was baptized and became a member of Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a youth Usher and Young Deacon. Alongside his Dad, he served at homeless shelters at Thanksgiving and Christmas. He attended the first youth camp at Riverside Park, organized by a group of Firefighters; he became a beginning Cadet/Youth Counselor at the camp.
Bill began his love for sports at Shortridge High School at the age of 4 playing T-ball. He then moved on with softball, soccer, bowling, wrestling, and football; playing varsity football in high school. He was an excellent bowler; at the age of 12 he bowled a perfect 300 at Hindel Lanes Bowling Alley. He was also in several junior leagues as well. He had several boxes filled with trophies, certificates, ribbons, pins and awards he earned. While he played several sports and excelled at them, he was also an excellent student. He was an outstanding student and individual, hard worker and always did his best in whatever he endeavored to do. While participating in sports, most often he carried an A&B GPA in high school, with match and science his strong points. While at St Andrew, he was in 3rd grade able to do 5th grade math and science.
This was Bills personality: Family learned to be careful asking him to fix something or hang something on the wall: He would take the entire item apart to see why it didn't work and what it was made of, or he would make sure the measurements were exact, and in the middle of the wall when hanging an item. What would take another person 5 minutes, would take him an hour or until it was perfect in his eyes before it finished. Before it was a common statement he would tell his sister, I love you but I don't like you today. On family trips, (an 8-12 hour drive) he talked the entire way. Family would play "the quiet game" to keep him quiet a little while. As soon as the game started, he would yell "123, I'm out" and began his conversation all over again. (SMILE). He was soooo funny!!! Bill was one of the sweetest, kindest people to know. God certainly smiled on his early life.
Bill was preceded in death by his Dad, William Henry Dawn, Jr.
Bill leaves to cherish his memory: his spouse Abigail Dawn, his son William Henry Dawn IV, Stepson, Tyson Judd; Indianapolis, mother, Margie Dawn, sister, Angela Dawn Shaw (Jeffery), Mesa AZ; Tamicca Dawn; one nephew, Jacob P Shaw, one niece, Marley T Shaw, Mesa AZ; Great Grandmother, Alma Tinsley, two uncles, Charles Tinsley (Darlene) and Anthony Tinsley (JoAnn), Aunts: Alma Jean Dodge (Joey), Della Griffin, Jessie Middleton, Beatrice Harris and Marie Harris alongside a host of cousins.
Billy will be Greatly missed. We cherish the time we had with him. He will lay peacefully beside his Dad at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana forevermore.
