William F. Russell

Bill was born in Indianapolis, on December 4, 1945, to Frank and Virginia Russell.

Bill graduated from Washington High School and later from IUPUI. He worked as a Business Analyst upon earning his bachelor’s degree until his retirement.

Bill is survived by his three daughters, Kelley (Kay) Sichting, Penny (Craig) Welch, and Katy Myers. He has four beautiful granddaughters, Kenna Welch, Claire (Sam) Huff, Abby Welch, and Camryn Sichting. He is also survived by his baby sister, Linda (Roger) Kates. His nieces and a nephew, along with great-nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Virginia Russell and his oldest sister, Marsha Russell.

Bill loved his family quietly but fiercely. He loved watching supporting the granddaughters while in school, all the way through their college graduations, sometimes being the loudest fan in the audience, cheering them on.

He also enjoyed walking, backgammon, where he almost always won because he was so lucky with the dice, lunches and time with family and friends.

In his honor, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Franciscan Hospice House or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

A visitation will be held on November 7, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Crown Hill Funeral Home, located at 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46208.

The funeral service will follow at the same location, starting at 2:00 pm.

A committal service will take place at 2:45 pm at Crown Hill Cemetery.
