Willie Jean Wells

Willie was born in Memphis, Tennessee to Lewis Hill and Mamie (Whiteside) Stokes. She graduated from Joliet Central High School in Joliet, Illinois and worked at Uniroyal. She married Elbert Wells in 1972, then later moved to Indianapolis, IN. She united with MT. Helm Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful member and served on the Willing Workers Ministry. She worked and retired from St. Francis Hospital in Environmental Services.

After retirement she decided to work at MT. Helm Daycare. She had a gift of showing kindness and concern for others. She loved spending time with family, cooking for holiday gatherings, loved reading, tending to her plants, spending quality time with her grandchildren, being outdoors and watching her lifetime networks.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Hill and Mamie Stokes; husband Elbert Wells; daughter Julia; great grandson Jauvyon and two sisters. Jerlean Craig and Bobbie Sallie.

She is survived by her four children Sharon Bennett, Joliet, IL; Thomas Bennett (Rhonda), Indianapolis, IN; Ramona Rivers, Indianapolis, IN and Derrick Wells, Indianapolis, IN. Sisters: Virgie Craig, Joliet, IL; Jackie Dillon, San Antonio, TX; Linda Stokes, Brooklyn, NY; Billie Stokes, DeKalb, IL. Grandchildren: Kenisha; Kendra (Keenan); Thomas II (Brandy); Tiffany (Shelton); Talisa. Great Grandchildren: Jaelen; Nyas; Nico; Keegan; Carter; Lesia; Cyrus. Great-Great Grandchild; Loyalty. Sisters-in-law, Maxime Jones, Los Angeles, CA; Shirley Gillum, Vancouver, WA; Esther Goodner, Indianapolis, IN. Brother-in-law, Nelson Dillon, Kankakee, IL.
