

Albert Garrett, 91, passed away Friday, September 9, 2016 at Jackson Medical Center. He was born October 15, 1924 in Montgomery. He became a resident of Jackson at the age of eight and has been a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Jackson. He was also a member of the Sante Fe Masonic Lodge #225 and a graduate of the Auburn University Class of 1949. A proud veteran of the U.S. Army from 1943 until 1946, he was a member of the 565th Antiaircraft Battalion of Patton’s Third Army. He loved the city of Jackson, fishing, hunting and all of his many friends. He will forever be remembered as a loving and faithful husband, father and PawPaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William K. and Allie Garrett; an infant daughter; brother, William K. Garrett and sisters, Mally A. White and Gretchen G. Dyas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Frances Anderson Garrett; sons, Al (Jo Ann) Garrett, John Garrett; daughter, Meg (Bob) Upton; grandsons, Dow (Bethany) Walker, Garrett (Amber) Walker and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Jackson with Dr. Ben Stubblefield officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Active pallbearers will be Tony Morrison, Butch Morrison, Dow Walker, Jarrett Walker, Bill Dyas, Tom Dyas and Neil Bush, Jr.
