Ann Townsend

Ann Townsend of Terry, MS, died at Briar Hill Nursing Home in Florence, MS of Alzheimer’s. She was born in Laurel, MS in 1944 to Lee and Lucille Hosey.

Ann Hosey Townsend (better known as Memaw), a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend entered the gates of her heavenly home on May 30, 2025, at the age of 81. She found great comfort in her faith which guided her through all of life’s joys and challenges. Ann considered it a privilege to be a prayer warrior and fought on her knees daily for her family. Her life was lived with kindness, grace, compassion and a gentle spirit. Memaw was the heart of her family. Always available with wisdom, advice and open arms. Her hugs made everything better. Known for her green thumb, she had a love of the outdoors and anything dealing with plants and flowers. She was also an avid reader and constantly sought knowledge. Her grandchildren brought her much delight and she always had a warm welcome and open door for each one. Music was one of the many ways she worshiped and could be found humming hymns day or night. Ann is bowing at the feet of Jesus with her perfect heavenly body and singing his praises for all of eternity.

There is no doubt she has heard “WELL DONE, GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT”.

Ann was preceded in death by father, Lee Hosey, mother Lucille Hosey, brothers Pat Hosey, Paul Hosey, Gene Hosey, Bill Hosey and sister Nell Hughes.

She is survived by husband Harold Townsend and sister Liz Nations (Wilbur). Children Beth Luna (Alex), Kim Lawrence (James) and Dena Wells (David). Grandchildren Brittney Thompson (Dustin), Brian Barlow (Kalyn), Bryce Barlow, Blake Luna (Rebekah), Taylor Luna (Alex), Anna Luna, Abbey Luna, Olivia Wells, Alexa Wells and Easton Wells. Great grandchildren Harper Luna, Ben Luna, Paisley Luna, Carter McLaine Thompson, Whitton Thompson, Josephine Thompson, Jaxen Barlow, Kason Barlow, Waylyn Barlow and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation is June 3rd at 12:00 and Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home in Jackson, MS.
