

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday December 6, 2010 from the High Street Chapel of Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home. Visitation will be between the hours of 3 and 5 pm Sunday and after 9 AM Monday. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM in the Jacobs Family Cemetery in Amite County, MS.
Born the first of seven children to Hugh Lee and Eunice White of Amite County, MS on Christmas Eve, 1915, she always said that “Santa had brought her.” In 1946 she and her husband relocated to Ridgeland, MS, with their three young sons.
She was a faithful Sunday School Teacher in the Youth Department at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Jackson for 33 years. She was a Manicurist at Brock’s Hair Designers in Meadowbrook Mart for many years, and was known to have said that she had “held hands with almost everyone in Jackson.”
Billie was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family. She was an excellent homemaker. The matriarch of her large family, she was the centerpiece of the annual family reunion which has been hosted by family members living California, Florida, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas.
Mrs. Jacobs was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years D. C. Jacobs, and is survived by sons Joe Lane Jacobs (Betty) of Glen Burnie, MD, Alton Ramon Jacobs of Palm Harbor, FL and Kenneth Burke Jacobs (Polly) of Madison, MS. She leaves seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters Ruby Foote of Pampa, TX and June Rome of Baton Rouge, La. and one brother J. Charles White (Betty) of Independence, LA.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jeffery Jacobs of Glen Burnie, MD, John Jacobs of Atlanta, GA, Stephen Jacobs of Vail, CO, and her three loving sons.
