Charlyn was the 1st born of Evelyn (R.N.) and Charles Crittenden, CMSGT, AF Ret, and lived an adventurous childhood as a military dependent. She continued her adventures as a Civil Servant in Saigon, Vietnam, where she enjoyed flying over the countryside in helicopters on the weekends. She was a daredevil putting it mildly. Her next adventure began when she met a young seaman in the United States Navy. Then to her dad’s surprise a wedding was planned.
Charlyn and Max married in 1970. They had one son, John Christopher Bailey who was the love of their life. He went to heaven this year on February 16, 2017. John and his wife Andrea adopted and were raising 3 foster children in Modesto, California and they really experienced the chaos and confusion of 3 active children. Charlyn loved talking about her experience as a grandmother.
Charlyn was also full of life, but thoroughly enjoyed sharing her vitality with her church family and friends. She was eager to help people and had many who loved her. Charlyn’s faith was strong and never failing. She also enjoyed singing and praising God.
Her love was great for her grandchildren, Jacob, Caleb, and Anna; nephew, Bucky and Wally; nieces, Christina and Kelley. She has two siblings left, Bill Crittenden and Cyndi Luke. Oh how she laughed about their growing up days. Love was deep with them and all mischievous pranks gone.
Yes, life can go at the blink of an eye. But really, she is in the next room, well and full of sunshine for Christ. If she were speaking to me now, she would say never lose your faith, fight for your faith and follow Christ’s footsteps showing love.
