

Funeral services for Christine Bryan Smith of Madison, MS, 92, who passed away on Thursday, October 1, will be on Tuesday, October 6, at St. Matthews United Methodist Church of Madison, Mississippi at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will precede the service at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. Lura Christine Harling was born in Sherman, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Joseph Dickerson Harling and Lura Neal Harling; brothers, Neal and Jim Harling, and her beloved husband, Warren Smith. Christine majored in English at Austin College in Sherman, TX. She resided in Winona, MS, for many years where she raised her family. Her career of 30 years was as Property Manager and Executive Vice President of The Bryan Company. Christine was a founding member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church, Madison, and remained active until her death. She and her husband, Warren, enjoyed a “cross” production ministry. Christine loved her “Seasoned Saints” group and Sunday school class. Christine’s prayer and devotional ministries were a treasured part of her life. Christine leaves behind her devoted children: Barbara Bryan Yeatman(Carl) of Kingwood, TX); Steve Harling Bryan (Heather)of Ridgeland, MS; and Mary Bryan Flach(Dennis) of Natchez, MS. She is survived by her beloved grandchildren: John Gordon(Leslie)of Hernando, MS; Christie Gordon Fernandez(Ricky) of Kingwood, TX; Andrew Bryan Flach (Alzbeta) of Prague, Czech Republic; Ashley Jarratt Bryan of Ridgeland, MS, and Katherine (Katie) O’Keefe Bryan of Ridgeland, MS, and great grandchildren, Reed Parker Gordon and Ava Isabella Fernandez. She is also survived by her step-children: Stephanie Land (Jack) of Hattiesburg, MS; Maureen Smith of Ridgeland, MS, and step-grandchildren: Wes Yeatman(Donna) of Birmingham, AL; Lauren Flach Battistini(Ricardo) of Tomball, TX; David Land (Jessica) of Huntsville, AL; Jennifer Altman(Jeff) of Brandon, MS, and Amy Greer(Fields) of Birmingham, AL; and 18 step great- grandchildren, sister-in-law, Bernice Bryan, and many nieces and nephews. The family gives special thanks to her friend, Harvey Anglin, her dear caretaker, Omeca Willis, and to the caring staff at Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland, MS. Genuine appreciation goes to Kaye Schloemer, Minister of Congregational Care and the team of volunteers from St. Matthews who faithfully served her to the end.
